The Africa Gender Data Network (AGDN), an initiative launched in March 2019 by UNECA and Data2X, was featured on 24 September 2020 in the Africa Open Data Network Webinar “Advancing Gender Data in Africa”.
The Africa Open Data Network is part of the Local Development Research Institute (LDRI) a think tank based in Nairobi that works to support African governments to end hunger, extreme poverty and reduce inequality particularly gender inequality.
As part of their Program, they host a monthly webinar that brings together different stakeholders from the continent to discuss a variety of issues on the availability and use of data for development.
In September, the focus was on Gender Data, and UNECA presented the work of the Africa Gender Data Network, along with a member, who showcased what she and her organisation (Kenya National Bureau of Statistics) are doing in terms of gender statistics. We also shared the status of gender data openness in Africa and key actions needed to make gender data more open and accessible.
The webinar will be posted on LDRI You-Tube channel.
