African Centre for Statistics (ACS) invited National Statistical Offices and other key stakeholders to take part in its first stakeholders survey earlier this year, to evaluate some of its activities and improve ways of doing business.
The results of the survey report pointed to a need for ACS to focus on improving communication with stakeholders especially on informing its statistical publications, follow-up on implementation of key agreed activities and informing its forthcoming events.
Following the results, ACS is working to ensure its communications are more central, streamlined and more regular. To this, it has launched an internal communications committee to keep this area of work on track.
In addition, everybody at ACS will evaluate and improve individual projects, programmes, and services, using the survey results, to better meet the needs of our stakeholders, partners, and users.
ACS also intends to run regular surveys and focus groups to continue to evaluate improvements and ensure those improvements are working.
Oliver Chinganya, Director of African Centre for Statistics, said: “We appreciate everybody who took the time to respond to this short stakeholder survey. This feedback is really important so that we at ACS can improve our products and services to better serve Member States.”
Key stakeholders participated in the survey are comprised from National Statistics Offices, Regional Economic Commissions, National Mapping/GIS Agencies, National Civil Registration Agencies and Statistical Training Centres from across the continent.
The questionnaire consisted of 17 self-administered questions and was emailed to invited respondents.
