Performance management dashboard 

The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) has launched a data-driven governance initiative aimed at enhancing public sector performance. Traditional, paper-based management approaches have struggled to meet contemporary demands, highlighting the need for more robust, evidence-based systems.

The ECA-developed Performance Management Dashboard (PMD) tackles this challenge by providing a comprehensive platform—encompassing planning, tracking, reporting, and communication—to improve public service delivery's effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability.

• Performance planning module: links the organization's strategic plan to its overall priorities and provides a platform for annual performance planning to set annual metrics and KPIs.
• Performance tracking and analysis modules: helps to stay focused and updated with the latest performance metrics at any time and anywhere, and using any devices.
• Performance communication module: easily navigates through intuitive visualization and a user-friendly interface, generating reports that meet the organization's specific requirements.

The PMD is a comprehensive tool designed to enhance the performance of the African public sector. It provides a platform that addresses all aspects of performance management, from planning and tracking to reporting and communication, with a specific focus on improving effectiveness, efficiency, and accountability within the public sector.

Adaptable to various levels of government and public service delivery contexts, the PMD aims to be an essential tool for enhancing governance and service delivery. The ECA's Performance Management Dashboard (PMD) has already been implemented and utilized by the Botswana and Malawi ministries of foreign affairs. This demonstrates the PMD’s practical application and potential to improve public sector performance in different African contexts.
