ECA Mobile Statistical Platform

Overview

The ECAStats Mobile Application, or the ECA Mobile Statistical Platform (MSP), has been developed by the African Centre for Statistics of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to expand access to its extensive statistical data repository. The mobile app make the datasets available anytime and anywhere for policymakers, academia, the media, the general public, and development partners.

Key Features

1.1 Data Exploration on Mobile

This functionality empowers users to interact directly with ECA’s extensive data repository using smartphones or tablets. It provides access to key datasets categorized under specialized themes—such as Country Profile, SDG Indicators, and Tracking SDGs—while offering a user-friendly interface that enables seamless navigation and intuitive data exploration.

1.2 Executive Statistics

Executive Statistics delivers high-level overviews of Africa and its subregions, key indicators for policymakers. The aggregate data are presented in charts and tables for quick insights into regional and subregional socio-economic issues.

1.3 Statistical Portal

The statistical portal provides centralized access to the central statistical data holdings. Users can easily access country profiles, sustainable development goals (SDGs) indicators, progress tracking of SDGs, key data products/dashboards, and search interfaces.

  • 1.3.1 Country Profile

    Country Profile offers detailed statistical insights for individual African countries, organized by topics and indicators. It allows users to explore key economic, social, and environmental indicators to provide country snapshots.

  • 1.3.2 SDGs

    The SDGs provides data for the Sustainable Development Goals indicators across the 17 goals, 169 targets and 231 indicators, series and disaggregations. To show in-depth trend analysis and the identification of gaps.

  • 1.3.3 Tracking SDGs progress

    Tracking SDGs is an analytical data that shows the progress made on SDGs since 2015 across the goals, targets and indicators.

  • 1.3.4 Data Products

    Data Products supplies real-time access to dynamically generated datasets curated by the African Centre for Statistics (ACS). Through newly created thematic reports or aggregated indicators, users stay current with the latest statistical outputs, enhancing data-driven decision-making and strategic planning across sectors.

  • 1.3.5 Search

    The search feature provides a free text search for indicators in the comprehensive catalogue of indicators available on the ECAStats portal covering economic growth, health, and education.

1.4 Offline-First Data Access

The Offline first data approach ensures uninterrupted access to available statistical data with limited or no internet connectivity. Users can cache datasets initially and access them directly to their devices for offline viewing.
