Meeting of SDG coordinating agencies: SDG Extended Reporting platform

By UNSD

UNSD organized a virtual meeting on Tuesday, 16 March 2021 with the coordinating custodian agencies on the preparation of the proposed inaugural 2021 SDG Extended Reporting Platform.

Due to space constraints for both the Secretary-General’s report and the glossy SDG report, an online dissemination platform to present the progress achieved for all SDG indicators and provide the general public with more detailed information on the indicators and reference is being developed.

The platform will include the detailed storyline submissions for all indicators provided by custodian agencies to the SDG report and will be housed within the SDG report 2021 webpages. This platform will be launched with the SDG Report 2021 on 6 July 2021. The meeting provided an overview and timeline of the proposed online dissemination platform.

The group also reviewed the role of the coordinating agency in the process—which is to oversee and curate the inputs provided by the co-lead agencies. UNSD presented the format of the contributions, as well as recommendations and editorial considerations on how to review the content.

UNSD has also created a wiki site to collaborate with agencies on the initiative. The participant from UN-Water also shared their experience in coordinating Goal 6 reporting and the production of Summary Progress Update 2021: SDG 6—water and sanitation for all report. The meeting was attended by experts from 21 custodian agencies proposed as coordinating agencies for the reporting on the 17 Goals.
