A new home for statistical and data news in Africa

By ECA

The African Centre for Statistics (ACS) is launching a new-look newsletter that will be a hub for statistics and data-related news and events across the continent.

The ACS, which is part of the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), has published its newsletter as a printable PDF for more than 12 years – but now the content is being moved online enabling it to publish content faster and in a more accessible format.

The new digital newsletter will be the home of statistical and data news and events across Africa and the best place to visit to keep informed with the latest studies, innovations and learning opportunities to improve our important work.

It will provide a platform for sharing knowledge and information about statistical methodologies and their application to solving practical problems – using the power of data to improve lives across the continent.

Mr. Oliver Chinganya, Director of ACS said: “We are delighted to launch the new digital African Statistical Newsletter as part of the African Centre for Statistics' modernisation programme urged by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The new digital newsletter will help us ensure contents are more accessible to our readers through computer, phone, or tablet and from anywhere you have access to the Internet.”

A PDF version for printing will still be made available – but as more people choose to read online, this will eventually be phased out. PDFs formats will be published on their section of the new website's homepage for easy downloading.
