New Federal Statistician General appointed in Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari of the Federal Republic of Nigeria appointed Dr. Simon B. Harry as the Statistician-General of the Federation and Chief Executive of the National Bureau of Statistics on 26 August 2021. Dr. Simon is a multi-disciplinary Statistician whose vast experience in various facets of statistical operations in the Nigerian Statistical System spanned over two decades. He holds Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Economics from the University of Abuja.

The African Statistical Community is grateful to Dr. Yemi Kale, the former Statistician General, for his great contribution to statistics in Nigeria and on the continent, and wishes success to Dr. Simon Barry in his new function.
